Brett Farve, MacBooks & James Bond

Apparently Brett Farve is “seriously” considering coming out of retirement for one last season.  I’ve always appreciated the man’s obvious “love of the game”, but this is getting a bit ridiculous.  I’m not completely surprised by this, but the man needs to make up his mind.  How many more farewell games, montages, and tributes are we going to have to sit through before the guy actually retires?  Something tells me I’m not going to have enough beer.  I want to love you, Brett.  Don’t make me hate you like Tom Brady.  Now go away.

I’m sure everyone (or no one) remembers my rant against iPhones.  Here I am, weeks later, seriously contemplating buying a Macbook in a couple of months.  I feel so cheap.  So used.  What is wrong with me?  I mean, I know Apple products are the technology equivalent of cocaine, but I should be above this.  They’re just so damned pretty.  I walk by Apple stores and feel the draw of it.   “You know you want to come in here, Liz.  You want to touch us and take note of our sleek design, which appeals to your anal retentive nature.”

I have my concerns, though.  First of all, is the fan going to be an issue?  I don’t want to spend $1300 on an overheating white plastic paperweight.  Plus, the mouse only has one button.  No right clicking.    It’s just so… not a PC!  I’m nervous about a transition like that.  I fear change.

I’m still not buying an iPhone, though.  You can’t make me!  It’s ugly, smudgy, and not my Blackberry.

It amazes me how much of a stir Daniel Craig caused when he was cast as the new James Bond.  Did they not realize that Ian Fleming’s James Bond (he’s the author of the original stories) was a blond, had somewhat blunt features, and while he was debonair in a way, he was a bit of a brute?  James Bond was made an icon by Sean Connery, but Daniel Craig is actually more true to form.  He is James Bond.

Check out the trailer for the new 007 movie coming out this fall above.

  • Hiya!
Macbooks are wonderful… hubby and I each had one, and we also have an IMAC. Apple freaks in this house! I have an ipod touch too which I could NOT be without!

On the macbook… the one button thing isnt a problem… to right click something you just hold the ctrl button at the same time.

Hubby has had his for more than a year now and overheating doesnt seem to be a problem… we have had more of a problem with windows laptops overheating…

    good luck :)

  • With the macbook, you can buy a wireless mouse that will allow you to right click. That’s what I did. I also have the laptop propped up on corks so the air can circulate underneath it.

I’m still making the transition from PCs to Macs. There are things I miss about the PC and the Mac does confuse me. But would I go back to a PC? I really don’t think so. I’m convinced once you open the box Apple owns your soul.

  • I live in the land of the green and gold but I really hope that Farve stays retired. I’ve had enough of the back and forth business.

Also, I love my macbook. The right clicking thing is false. You can change the settings to either use ctrl like someone suggested or put two fingers on the trackpad or buy a mouse with two buttons or set the mac mouse to have a secondary right click setting. The possibilities are endless! :)

  • Daniel Craig is my dream.

    There…I said it…

  • I got a Macbook Pro in January and I LOVE IT. LOVE LOVE LOVE. My personal computer will never be a PC again! It’s so easy and lovely and streamlined.

And I’m using my mouse right now, which I set to have a right click. Makes everything easier!! You can set each area of your mouse (there’s 5) to do something different. Like, my side buttons bring up my “dashboard.” …you’ll find out soon enough :)

  • e. is right…to get the right click functions, just tap two fingers on the mouse pad and you have your right click! It’s super easy and I find myself trying to do Mac things at work on the PC. And mine came out of the box set up to do that…no configuration necessary!

  • don’t fight it, liz, macbooks rule. change is good.

  • Wow that is the first time I saw that trailer, it looks awesome. I remember all the uproar about Daniel but I think he is great and i loved Casino Royale. And if you go with the Macbook you won’t be sorry. I love mine more every day.
