This is from a conversation I had with Horatio’s father, my fiance, Patrick yesterday. He was explaining to me why he was so exhausted, because I thought he had gotten a good night’s sleep.
“Stupid pooch kept me up, or woke me up rather… at 6. He was up so I should be up too! That’s exactly what he was thinking. He made obnoxious noises. He always does this to me in the morning when he needs to go out for a walk, and I always get up and walk him around 6. But today he was like ‘Do you REALLY need to go back to bed? I have things to talk about.’
He pretty much sat on the bed the whole time and badgered me, stepped on me and made the cute talky noises the whole freaking time.”

You’d have thought being in a couple for long enough would have helped him build up an immunity to that tactic.

ellie does that. on the weekends when we want to sleep in, she’ll sleep in with us but usually she’ll get up around 8:30ish and be on the move which means she needs to go out. then she’ll bound up on bed and step on us, lick our faces, and be a general pest till we get up to feed her and take her out. if she’s feeling really rebellious she won’t even wake us, she’ll go out into the living room, do her thang and then come back and sleep like an angel after wrecking havoc on the living room while we dream sweet dreams.

Edie does that. If I go back to sleep and she wants me to be awake. She will sit in front of my face and stare at me, then comes the nose poking, the the lay across mom’s neck. Then tries to suffocate me into being awake. It usually works or I’d be dead.
